Greco-Roman Wrestler

Alexander Karelin was born in 1967 in Novosibirsk, of the Soviet Union.  He was considered a "Hero of the Russian Federation".

As a Greco-Roman wrestler, at 130 kg (286.5 lbs) he won GOLD medals in the 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games, and went undefeated in international competition between 1987 and 2000, including, not giving up a single point between 1994 and 2000. He is undoubtedly the greatest Greco-Roman wrestler of the modern era of wrestling, and probably of all time.

He was known as the "Russian Bear', his trademark the Reverse Body Lift.

He was upset by American, Roulon Gardner in the Gold Medal match of the 2000 Sidney Olympics.

John William Smith (USA)
Folkstyle and Freestyle Wrestling

John Smith is from Del City Oklahoma. He was a successful high school (105-5), collegiate (154-7-2), world and Olympic Games wrestler (in domestic freestyle 77-2; in international competition 100-5). He won a number of National Championships, World Championships and 2 Olympic GOLD medals in 1988 and 1992.

He is currently the head coach of wrestling at Oklahoma State University and the Gator Wrestling Club. His brothers Leroy and Pat also wrestled at Oklahoma State, where all three became NCAA Champions.  His youngest brother, Mark, is an All-American.
